There's apparently a hacker on DA going around and messing up people's accounts. They post pictures of a person's unmentionables and hate messages and unwatch and block all of your watchers.

Not sure if this is just a stupid creepy pasta, but I'm going to switch to a longer and more complex password to be on the safe side and I advise you guys to do the same. There's no telling when some moron who has nothing better to do than ruin people's accounts and hard work on the internet will target you for whatever reason.

======================================================================

Guys this hacker is for real! This he/she will hack your account and post pornographic pictures, only if he/she hacks your account.  If he/she finds that you've posted this to a journal or on your page, he'll/she'll know what's going on and won't hack you. Please copy this for your safety to prevent your account from being hacked.

The hacker does vital region pictures around in the account page and writes in journals: "I hate you all, go die" And he/she will also remove all your watches. If this happens to me, then you know that it isn't me. I write this journal to warn everyone here. I suggest you copy this journal and warn your watchers as well. I think the hackers will not have more fun with hacking you if you and your watchers already know what could happen. You might get this message multiple times from multiple people of your watch list, but it's better than not getting it. Spread the word! This hacker is going around and hacking into other people's accounts to block your friends so that your friends block you, get you in trouble, and could get you banned from DeviantART. If you get this warning, copy and paste this into your Journal and spread this to everyone.

Had to use the acronym because of character space.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker is a fun, fast-paced but very disjointed movie that is not up to what it was built up to be, albeit still an enjoyable and satisfying ride.

There are a lot of things to love in the movie. There were two scenes in particular that mirrored and solidified ones in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi and were incredibly satisfying for the characters involved and their development throughout the trilogy, particularly The Last Jedi.

TROS also confirms a fan theory that has been going around since The Force Awakens. I'm not gonna lie, at first, I was disappointed and thought that Lucasfilm had finally given in to the fantards. But then the movie sets it up in such a way that it doesn't matter whose blood you have in your veins, it's who you choose to become that is important, which brings a satisfying conclusion to the character's story. I feel like saying this much is already a spoiler in and of itself, so I won't go further into it.

But, it is very disjointed. There are so many things happening one after the other that the pacing feels freakishly fast and you barely have time to know what's going on that they're already moving on to the next plot point. Keep in mind, though, that I saw the movie in a marathon of the trilogy and the mental fatigue might therefore have influenced my perception of it.

And then, there's also a lot of stuff in the movie regarding the Force that I didn't have a problem with personally and think it deepens the phenomenon and mythos around it, but I expect the usual toxic crowd to react viciously to with variations of "tHaT's NoT hOw ThE fOrCe WoRkS", but oh well, haters gonna hate, I guess. It IS much better than midichlorians, though, I can tell you this much.

The good points:

- Actors are completely invested in their roles

- Some of the best dialogues in the entire trilogy and I can still remember a lot of exchanges off the top of my head with a smile on my face

- Character moments that mirror scenes in the previous two films and either complete or solidify the development of two characters I, of course, won't name and shine a completely different light on said scenes

- Some of the best visual effects in the entire saga (there, I said it)

- A couple reveals that made me go "HA! In your face, haters!", especially one right at the beginning of the movie, but that, of course, is purely subjective.

The bad points:

- Messy plot structure

- Three new characters (D-0, Jannah and Zorii Bliss) that contribute very little to the movie save for a couple plot points and are introduced so late into the trilogy that it made them rather forgettable (Jannah in particular)

- Lando didn't contribute to the movie as much as he was advertised to, at least not as much as Han, Luke and Leia did

So, I don't make a habit of dumping my private life on the internet, since I feel that people don't want to get involved in another person's "woe-is-me" story when they've got their own to worry about and the last thing I want is to pass for a drama queen. But there always comes a time when a guy just needs to empty his trash compactor, you know?

Long story short, I've been unemployed for the last almost-five years since coming out of art college in February 2015 (I remember it was that year because it was the same year The Force Awakens came out). I've been rolling my wheels in the mud for all that time trying to get a job in an industry that is for all intents and purposes clogged in Belgium, only to realize that I wouldn't feel comfortable having to create art based on another person's oftentimes strict directives. Add to that the existence of a law in Belgium that forbids people below 25 from getting unemployment aid if they don't have a minimum of one year of professional experience (which has recently been increased to two years, to make matters worse), and you've got the recipe for a crippling, Last Jedi Luke Skywalker-style depression.

However, recently, things have been starting to look up. Slightly.

The reason for my thinking this is that since September, I've been running an interim job as a polyvalent worker in a supermarket and learning how to perform most functions within it. It's allowed me to gain considerable (and much-needed) experience and I've gotten the hang of pretty much everything, though I'm most comfortable at the cashier if I have to be honest. There have been a few slip-ups, but overall, the staff is content with my improving performance.

This interim has earned me some decent income and my mood has improved a lot compared to before it started. I've gone from "What am I gonna do with my life?" to being cautiously optimistic about the future, though it still isn't all sunshine and rainbows either. If all goes well, in the next weeks/months, I might be able to finally ditch this bummy-ass laptop for the awesome PC gaming rig I've been dreaming of. "Might" being the operative word, but it's a blasted improvement compared to the thought that it would forever remain a dream.

I have been patient.

For the last nine months, I've done my best to keep an open mind. I gave the haters of The Last Jedi and/or the new Star Wars in general the benefit of the doubt by believing that they would eventually come around and understand that imposing one's opinion of a movie is not the right way to be a part of a fanbase.

And what did I get in return? Insults. Condescension. Mockery. Getting my comments flagged for spam and being blocked for trying to defend a movie using carefully-thought-out arguments without so much as the shadow of a counter-argument, here on this very site. Accusations of not being a "real" fan. Well, if being a "real" fan means betraying the core morals and teachings of the saga one idolizes by refusing to acknowledge the opinions -or points of view- of others and let oneself be blinded and controlled by one's feelings of anger and hatred, then I don't want to be a "real" fan.

To be fair, I've had a number of opportunities to talk with more open-minded fans who had legitimate and mature reasons for disliking the new films (some of which I actually share, believe it or not). I live by an adage of mine that says "Just having a few bad students doesn't warrant punishing the entire class", as I don't want to condemn an entire group just for the actions of a few (a mentality that I think we sorely need in this age, and not just regarding Star Wars; you know what I'm talking about), and despite all of this, I'm still convinced that the keyboard warriors complaining about the new Star Wars are only an extremely vocal minority abusing the power of social media to make themselves as loud as possible. But the ratio of people who were open about my opinions of the film and those who try to shove their negative opinion of it down my throat with their every reply is now forcing me to betray that adage.

You might think to yourself "That's hypocritical. You complain that the haters betray the morals of the Star Wars saga, but you go and betray your own code?" The difference is that I'm perfectly aware and saddened by this state of facts, whereas these "real" fans are proud of what they're doing and blindingly convinced that their behavior is the best way to respect their "beloved" saga.

So, that's it. I'm done. I will now stay the kriff away from Youtube comment sections of any Star Wars-related video. I will no longer let myself be drawn into the toxic, vicious circle of discussion that Star Wars has become. I'm not going to block or flag for spam any of the detractors of the new movies if they choose to comment in my present or future works (I have to show that I am better than the haters, after all), but I will no longer try and interact with these people, and will keep this mentality when Episode IX rolls in theaters, regardless of my eventual opinion of it, as well as all Star Wars content afterwards.

This is the first time in my life as a geek that I have felt obligated to resort to such a drastic measure, and it's for the first fictional universe that I ever became a fan of when I was five years old, to the point that I can declare that Star Wars has always been a part of my life, and now, the "real" fans have forever tainted that 23-year-long love with their toxicity.

May the Force be with you, Star Wars. You're gonna need it.

Just came back from the theater, and both as a fan and a movie enthusiast in general, I am torn on this movie between satisfaction and disappointment.

It pretty much goes in the direction I was expecting it to go and that's one of the movie's strongest points. With The Force Awakens, they used a story structure similar to that of A New Hope to ease us into this new trilogy and introduce the new characters in a familiar setting so that we'd feel comfortable while getting to know them.

And now with The Last Jedi, not only is the narrative structure completely different from that of Empire Strikes Back (contrary to what the haters had "predicted" *rolls eyes*), but they took an extremely different turn from what TFA had set up and took many, many, MANY risks with the narrative and characters, many of which I think will divide the fanbase even more than TFA did. *sigh*

Those risks I'm talking about are the reason I'm so torn about it. On the one hand, they pay off and drive the movie in a direction that I seriously did not expect. But on the other hand, they fall flat and needlessly complicate the plot where it could have been so much simpler. I'm not against some detailed psychology and development on the characters' part, but good GOD they laid it on thick in this movie.

The good points:
- Spectacular action
- Good humor
- Great skill from all the actors involved
- Some risks taken with the story and pre-established lore that pay off in a satisfying way
- Porgs. Need I say more?

The bad points:
- Heavy contemplation from the characters that for the most part, cluttered the movie
- The VERY disappointing fate of a certain character I, of course, won't name.

That, however, is my impression after having seen the movie for the first time, and I think it's one of those movies you need to watch a second time to truly make your opinion of it, especially considering Rian Johnson's talk of a director's cut.

But until then... my opinion of The Last Jedi will remain extremely divided.
